Sudanese Armed Forces Deny WFP Convoy Attack, Blame Dagalo Militia
The Sudanese Armed Forces have categorically denied accusations made by the Dagalo militia alleging that government forces bombed a World Food Programme (WFP) humanitarian convoy in Mellit.
In an official statement, the Army said the claim was a fabricated attempt by the militia to cover up its own attack on the aid convoy in the same area.
“These are nothing but lies aimed at misleading the public and concealing the militia’s continuous violations since it ignited this war against the homeland and the citizen,” the statement read.
The Armed Forces detailed a wide range of atrocities committed by the militia, including theft, looting, destruction, killings, rape, and the starvation of besieged populations.
The statement highlighted repeated assaults on displaced persons’ camps in Darfur—most recently Zamzam Camp, which the militia turned into a training ground for minors with the help of Colombian mercenaries, and Abu Shouk Camp in North Darfur, from which displaced families were expelled.
The militia’s record also includes summary executions of detainees and widespread use of foreign mercenaries to kill Sudanese citizens, in clear violation of international humanitarian law.
The Army reaffirmed Sudan’s commitment to facilitating humanitarian relief, recalling that the government had agreed to open aid corridors, including the Adré border crossing with Chad.
However, the statement noted that this route is exploited by the militia and its foreign backers to smuggle weapons, equipment, and fighters.
“Under no circumstances would we ever target convoys carrying life-saving assistance to our people who are enduring dire humanitarian conditions imposed by the Dagalo militia,” the Armed Forces stressed.
The statement concluded with a firm vow:
“We will not be distracted by such fabrications. With unwavering resolve, we will continue to confront this militia and its mercenaries until our nation is fully liberated from their presence and their crimes.”
“Victory from Allah and a near conquest.”
