?What is the history of the Brisbane River festival
In 1996, the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council created Brisbane Festival as a biennial arts festival with an aim ‘to foster the arts’. At around the same time, in 1998, Riverfestival was created by Brisbane City Council as an annual, 10-day event held each September.
Riverfire is a free, non-ticketed event launching the start of the Brisbane Festival — a three-week celebration of arts and culture running from August 31 until September 21.
Celebrating Brisbane at the city’s favourite event, Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust ignites Brisbane Festival 2024 with one of the most electrifying displays in Australia for an unforgettable night of community celebrations.
